Weekly Relegation Update
By: Jeremy |Well, Newell’s managed to hang on to 14th place, despite the draw and depending on the outcome of the the suspended Racing game (I don’t think Racing will be awarded the points, so I am not expecting them to catch us.). This week there are several interesting games amongst the lower half of the [...]
Newell’s 1 - Lanus 1
By: Jeremy |A draw wasn’t the most horrible thing. It kept la lepra 14th on the relegation averages. Congratulations to Nacho Fidelef for scoring in his debut in the primera division. The goal came in the 24th minute off of a free kick by Nico Cabrera.
Tonight’s changes
By: Jeremy |Three changes this week for the game at Lanus.
Villar (international duty), Schiavi (five yellows), and Salcedo (ankle) are out.
Marcos Gutierrez starts in goal, with Ignacio Fidelef trying to fill Schiavi’s large shoes on defense and Ferreyra gets his first start (a no brainer after last week).
We need these three points (but really, when do we [...]
Weekly relegation update
By: Jeremy |Well, a good week. Racing drew. No one else gained on us, and we took a baby step closer to 13th.
Looking forward to Lanus
By: Jeremy |OOPS. I meant to post this a couple of days ago and hit save instead.
First, if anybody knows how to get the little accent marks over the letters, please let me know. What works in word does not work on this editor. Thanks.
Well, Salcedo’s sprined ankle is iffy for the game still. [...]
Random stuff
By: Jeremy |Villar will not feature against Lanus, as he is off with his Paraguyan teammates for a friendly against South Africa, so that means la lepra will be giving Marcos Gutierrez his first start this year. Justo will return in time for the following game with Tigre.
This week’s fixture against Lanus has been moved from [...]
As promised, the goals.
By: Jeremy |Here they are, all four goals scored by NOB.
#1 Alejandro Da Silva (Cabrera) Nice play here. Good delivery and finish.
Newell’s spanks Arsenal.
By: Jeremy |Wow. I was hoping for a win, but dang. 4-1. Not bad at all. And like I have been saying all along, Ferreyra played superbly, bagging a brace after coming on in the 36th (or 39th) minute in place of Salcedo, who was injured. A big ‘I told you so’ [...]
Defensive news and cookies.
By: Jeremy |Looks like Caruso is going to stick to the three man back line and let Schiavi continue to roam farther up. It worked against Velez. Their only goal was from that absolute phantasm of a penalty.
NOB - Velez highlights (Not really)
By: Jeremy |OK, I couldn’t find any video from the game worth posting, so here is a fan made video of last years trip to the Jose Amalfitani. Basically, it’s just a bunch of Newell’s fans at the game. Trust me, it is better than the few NOB “highlights” that I could find of last [...]
