He’s Back!!

By: Jeremy | Comments 8 Comments

Ok, he never really left, but just a couple of days ago I was convinced he was leaving. But today he signed a one year contract, keeping him at the Coloso until July of 2009. Yahoo!!!

For Sale, one striker

By: Jeremy | Comments No Comments

Looks like the Newell’s brain trust think that Santiago Salcedo may have a hard time repeating his success next season and want to cash in on him while he is hot. They are asking $8 million for him, a price too steep for River, and Europe or Russia looks like the most likely destination, [...]

Will he stay or will he go?

By: Jeremy | Comments 1 Comment

Caruso is bringing his agent with him to the meeting tomorrow with Lopez. A good sign. Plus word has it that Pedro Troglio (among others) turned down Lopez’ offer to become the new coach. And then at the season finale the Newell’s fans absolutely roared for Caruso. The man has already [...]

Caruso’s out (I think)

By: Jeremy | Comments No Comments

Well, today he told the press that his mind was made up about his future with Newell’s and that the president had no say in it. He said he would tell his coaching staff first and then Eduardo Lopez, club president.
Sounds like he’s gone to me. Plus Husain has been extended and he [...]

Americo Ruben Gallego

Could it be? Rumor is that he will be in Rosario in a couple of days to talk with Lopez. I support Caruso, but this is Gallego we are talking about.

Lopez cleans house

By: Jeremy | Comments No Comments

Wow. As if the big blowup between Cabrera, Llama (and others) in yesterday wasn’t enough, today Lopez paid his second visit to practice this season. You could probably count on your hand the number of times he has visited practice in his 14 years of presidency.

The offers are coming in, sort of

By: Jeremy | Comments 2 Comments

Well, Salcedo and his 17 goals for the year is in demand. Atlas and Toluca from Mexico and various other Argentine teams have expressed interest, but I doubt he will move since the rumored price is around $5 million.
Panathinaikos (Greece) sent someone out to watch Spolli. And Re is going to receive an [...]

Caruso is not making this easy

By: Jeremy | Comments 2 Comments

Well, today in practice, Caruso and Cabrera got into it. Caruso divided the squad in two and played two thirty minute halves. Nico Cabrera, Seri, Llama and a couple of others weren’t in the first half. When Cabrera approached Caruso about playing the second half, Caruso told him to keep jogging, that [...]

Seems like Tio Eduardo forgot to pay the bills

By: Jeremy | Comments No Comments

This week, the squad had an hour long closed door meeting about how to proceed concerning some past due money from about four months ago. Understandably, the players are upset. And very united, at least in this sentiment.
They are safe from relegation this year, and hopefully will continue climbing. Schiavi is staying [...]

@#*&!!&# Lopez

By: Jeremy | Comments No Comments

Caruso wants to stay. He needs some assurances. Maybe he wants to know what players he can sign and the direction that the rat fink Lopez sees the club heading in. Give them to him Eduardo. You can’t postpone elections indefinitely (although I am sure you will try). The barra [...]
