Salcedo sold?
By: Jeremy |After practice this morning, captain Rolando Schiavi left the training grounds and made a bee-line for the offices of president Eduardo Lopez. Today was d-day, or payday if you will. It seems as though our dear little president has been a bit remiss when it comes to paying salaries of the bigger players [...]
Barrientos deal done
By: Jeremy |According to some of the press, Hugo Barrientos is Newell’s 413th new midfield signing of the season. The transfer fee is somewhere around $625,000, payable in two installments to Huracan, half-ish now and the rest in ‘09
Fabbiani to sign, Barrientos tries to
By: Jeremy |Fabbiani says that he will be in Rosario Saturday to sign his contract. Or maybe next Saturday - I’m a bit unclear on that part.
Barrientos went to Rosario to sign his contract with la lepra, but there still is some negotiating to be done on how Huracan will be paid for the transfer, so [...]
Some Fabbiani footage for you
By: Jeremy |While I’m still a bit giddy thinking about the chance of him playing for Newell’s, I thought I’d throw out a couple of videos. The first one is a compilation from his time with Kluj.
Cristian Fabbiani to Newell’s?
By: Jeremy |In an interview with LaCapital, Fabbiani said unequivocably that he wanted to return to Argentina and Rosario is the place to be, since his model girlfriend (as in girlfriend who is a model, not as in exemplary girlfriend-although she might be) Amalia Granata (a huge NOB fan) and 3 month old daughter Uma live there. [...]
Cristaldo arrives at last, maybe for good
By: Jeremy |Ernesto ‘Teto’ Cristaldo is in Rosario, and he brought a friend, Walter Fretes, another midfielder. Their dad, Cerro Porteno president Luis Pettingil, came along to supervise.
Cristaldo plays on the left and Fretes on the right. Fretes is also the dead ball specialist for Cerro and spent time in Mexico with Jaguares. Here’s [...]
Gaston Machin is Leproso!
By: Jeremy |Wow. That signing came out of nowhere. Independiente’s talented 25 year old Gaston Machin midfielder will be taking Nico Cabrera’s place in the lineup. I’ve read reports that the cost was 1.5 million dollars and it was an outright purchase. Other reports say it is a year long loan with a [...]
Offers are on the table
By: Jeremy |Just not for who we thought. Pablo Vranjican has had an offer placed by some club in Croatia (Hopefully Split) and most likely will be heading on, since Caruso doesn’t have plans on using him.
Hector Gaitan is getting some love from Bolivar and just might find himself playing in La Paz.
A closer look at Sebastian Grazzini
By: Jeremy |Ran across these two videos of Grazzini playing in Italy and some older stuff of him in the Argentine lower leagues. He was born in Rosario and played for Newell’s, maybe Racing, and I think I saw a picture of him in a River shirt. Then his family moved to Italy. Or [...]
NOB u-15’s lose final to Venezuelan U-15 National Team
By: Jeremy |Title pretty much sums it up, except for they were also playing in Venezuela. Still don’t understand why they can play a national team in a club championship, but la lepra should be able to beat the Venezuelan national team anyway, so no complaints. (2-0 final)
