Colon preview, not really
By: Jeremy |After last week’s dismal showing, I really don’t care to write a preview. Plus I don’t know much about Colon other than the fact that they should lose. But then again, so should Gimnasia (J) have last week. And work is way busy this week, so I didn’t have time to watch [...]
Are you kidding me?
By: Jeremy |I still can’t believe they lost against a team that allowed 8, count them 8, goals in the first two games. I wasn’t expecting a repeat of that but damn, zero goals? Really? Da Silva and Ferreyra suck, hard. It was like watching Newell’s a man down every time they went on [...]
Gimnasia Jujuy preview
By: Jeremy |Well, we start out with the definite news that Fabbiani is out for due to a muscle strain (and his transfer still hasn’t come through). Fretes and Cristaldo are out due to the fact that their transfer paperwork hasn’t arrived (something about the head rat Lopez not sending the money to Cerro Porteno) and [...]
Newell’s greatest players.
By: Jeremy |Ok, I thought I would go back and take a look at Newell’s biggest players over the years. And I don’t mean Maradona. Take a look at these players: Norberto Scoponi, Juan Manuel Llop, Jorge Theiler, Jorge Pautasso, Néstor Sensini, Gerardo Martino, Darío Franco, Juan José Rossi, Roque Alfaro, Jorge Gabrich, Gabriel Batistuta, [...]
Uncle Edward is up to his old tricks again.
By: Jeremy |Seems like Lopez has pissed off Newell’s fans to the point that they filed a grievance with a judge because Lopez won’t open the books to the fans - who are technically the owners of the club. So a judge sent out an official member of the Roario judiciary to take a look at [...]
Probable line up for Saturday - No Fabbiani
By: Jeremy |Ok, Fabbiani is out due to injury. Fretes still is waiting on his transfer paperwork to arrive from Cerro Porteno (something about Newell’s still owing Cerro some cash). Quiroga is back from his suspension, so he’ll probably replace Aguilar. Spolli is also recovered from injury and will reclaim his starting spot from [...]
Are we better than last season?
By: Jeremy |A comment on another post got me thinking. Is Newell’s better off now than last season. I know the holes - Villar and Salcedo. Everyone else that left was just depth.
Just when I go and say it’s dead
By: Jeremy |Newell’s transfer season isn’t over after all. Defender Ivan Pillud, of Tiro Federal, has signed with la lepra. All I can say is “It’s about time.” This deal has been in the works since basically the end of last season. Ok, now the transfer market is shut.
Now that Pinto has signed, a quick recap.
By: Jeremy |Okay. It was a busy transfer period. Gustavo Pinto just signed, after being turned down by Caruso, and barring the semi-miraculous, there will be no more. So just for the fun of it I thought I would run down who is new and who is gone.
IN:
German Caffa, G, San Martin (T); [...]
Probably should have posted this before
By: Jeremy |Here are the fixtures for this season, one game late. Due to Boca running off to Spain to play Barcelona, la lepra do not play this week. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 3rd. And I didn’t include the first game of the season, since it has already been played. [...]
