Just read that TyC, Canal 7 and the AFA have reached an agreement for Canal 7 to broadcast the Friday night game each week. Nothing earth-shattering, except that I can actually watch Canal 7 much easier that TyC. Also, the fixtures for weeks 3 and 4 have been announced and Newell’s is set up to play at Racing on Friday the 22nd in week 3. Wahoo!

    Jeremy -

Nice to see another Argentine team represented. I suffered for almost a year with Telecentro cable service, which meant I didn’t have TyC. I’m not sure if you have the same set up, but I do know your pain.

Also, what are your thoughts on Caruso Lombardi?

    Thanks for the welcomes.

My thoughts on Caruso? A bit flaky, but I (thus far) like him. Of course, every time I see him in an interview, I get this little nagging feeling that he could explode any minute. I know there seemed to be some bad blood between him and the higher ups at Argentinos, but leaving like that makes me a little bit nervous about him. Still, he won some B championships and seems to know how to run a team. Plus he appears to be a giant-killer.

I’m a big fan of his, honestly. I hated to see him go, but I also hated to see him take on with another team so quickly…he will save NOB from relegation, that much I am pretty sure of. No coach in Argentina sticks around for more than a year or so, so it really is a wash in the long run.

Yeah, I’d have to agree. He won’t be here too long, and as a coach he is first rate. I’m pretty sure he’ll keep them from the drop this year, but looking at the promedio, they probably need another good year after this one to really breathe easy. Who knows, maybe he’ll actually get a few more seasons in with the club and really take them back to the top? I can dream, right?
