Better lucky than good
By: Jeremy | March 3rd, 2008Ok, I only saw about half of the game, and hopefully that was the bad half. Not a very well played game by either side, considering what was at stake. Some early chances that went for naught for both teams and then some really boring football.
The defense really picked up this week, though, after the meltdown last week. For Villar, he’s kept clean sheets in three out of four games this season. Not bad. And he provided the long assist to Salcedo for the only goal. But Villar and Salcedo aside, Flaco Spolli was clearly the man of the match, from what I saw. Racing kept looking for Sava in front of the goal, but Spolli just shut him, and anyone else who came calling, down.
Salcedo now has three goals in four matches. Not too bad. The rest of the team has two. I guess Caruso feels that da Silva is the best option right now, but I just don’t see it. He’s not in good form. Early-ish in the first half he banged one off the post on what should have been a goal. The man just can’t seem to finish. He’s a quality player, so maybe Caruso is letting him work out the kinks. I’d still like to see Ferryra get a shot, but that’s why Caruso gets the big bucks and I’m just writing this blog.
