Cristian Fabbiani to Newell’s?
By: Jeremy | July 27th, 2008In an interview with LaCapital, Fabbiani said unequivocably that he wanted to return to Argentina and Rosario is the place to be, since his model girlfriend (as in girlfriend who is a model, not as in exemplary girlfriend-although she might be) Amalia Granata (a huge NOB fan) and 3 month old daughter Uma live there. He wants Newell’s, Newell’s wants him. Sounds so simple, right?
The problem is he is under contract for four more years to CFR Cluj, who just happened to win the Romanian league for the first time and have earned a spot in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League. Fabbiani played a key part in that. He was even voted “Best Foreigner” in Romania last year.
Lopez has been in contact with his agent and with the club. We’ll see what the next few days bring about. This would be even bigger than Machin. A striker of Fabbiani’s caliber would make up for the eventual loss of Salcedo.

Sound to good to became reality. Fabiani is powerful his problem was temper, more than one saw the red card when he played in lanus. But I want him with our shirt, that’s will be great.

He would be a huge signing. He’s lethal with the ball and he has good pace and plays with a lot of passion. Maybe the occasional red card is the price for that. It does sound too good to be true, but I am sure hoping.

personally i dont like him. hes moody. hes cocky and he thinks hes all that and a bag of chips. sure he would add to the team but newells is losing something fundemental. Its “semillero” or youth squad players..i still think Stienert should start over Da Silva, Ferreyra and Fabbiani. I would mind to see him in our jersey Caruso is doing a L O U S Y job at letting some of our future talent hit the stage. none the less Newells has a competitve squad but i would like to la lepra get out of the Promocion area before reaching a cup spot!

While I agree that Caruso doesn’t seem to care about the homegrown players, I don’t know if it is because of a lack of talent that is directly from Lopez cutting down on the investment in the ‘inferiores’ or not. I’m all for Steinert getting the chance to start, but we need another proven striker to balance him out.
