Estudiantes mini-kinda-sorta Preview
By: Jeremy | October 18th, 2009Tonight’s match against Estudiantes will be a good barometer of just how high Newell’s can dream of climbing this season.
With the exception of one really horrid half, Newell’s have played well this season and both squads look to take the full points and solidify a title challenge. For Estudiantes, win and they go top with 20 points, one more than current leaders San Lorenzo.
A win versus an Estudiantes side with title aspiritions would lift Newell’s to within two points of the top and continue the good season they are having. It would also announce their intentions to challenge for the title in a serious way.
Schiavi and Achucarro are back from international duty, with Argentina and Paraguay respectively, and should make their way into the starting line up.
The lineup should shake out like this: Peratta; Roselli, Schiavi, Insaurralde; Dolci, Bernardi, Mate, Vangioni; Prette; Achucarro, Boghossian.
I’d still like to see Mauro get the start and I’m not sure why Roselli is in but we’ll see.
The big news, this match marks German Re’s first visit to el Coloso in a different jersey. I’m sure the fans will give him a standing ovation and I’d guess there will be a bit of applause for Schiavi as well since he manned the back line for the Argentine National Team over the last two must win WC qualifiers.
