For Sale, one striker
By: Jeremy | June 26th, 2008Looks like the Newell’s brain trust think that Santiago Salcedo may have a hard time repeating his success next season and want to cash in on him while he is hot. They are asking $8 million for him, a price too steep for River, and Europe or Russia looks like the most likely destination, although don’t count out Mexico.

I’m not sure I agree (ok I don’t agree) with the sale, but I guess the reasoning is sound enough. Lots of strikers have a down year after having a career year. When you add the 8 mill for Sasa and the 8 mill they are rumored to have offered for Spolli from Russia, plus untold amounts for Bernardello and maybe Re, then they could have a pretty nice war chest, or as Lopez likes to call it, his retirement fund.
