Friday’s team

By: Jeremy | February 20th, 2008

We know Donnet is back in after his suspension. He’ll be taking Bernardello place in the center, since he will be serving a one game suspension. Other than that, Caruso is saying that he won’t make changes just for the sake of making changes.

Personally, I would be more than mildly surprised to see Da Silva get the nod against Estudiantes after two sub-par performances. Cristian Llama got his first action with Newell’s late in the game against River and scored against River’s reserves. In a game that Caruso was on the bench for, by the way. Then again, so did John Carlos Ferreyra, and he is only a few centimeters shy of 2 meters tall. And Caruso has lots of respect for Estudiantes aerial ability. Either way, I’m looking for a new partner for Salcedo.

Is the Donnet you mention Matias Donnet, ex-DC United?

I just ask because I’m curious what happened with him. Thought he got screwed a bit during his time here.

That’s him. He signed with Belgrano de Cordoba for the 2007 clausura and when they were relegated at the end of the season he signed with Newell’s for the 07 aperatura. I’m glad we got him. He’s a good mid-fielder.
