Game Updates

By: Jeremy | April 5th, 2008

Not really a live blog, more like a (very) sporadic running commentary.

I’m watching the game online, so to be able to type and see the game I have the game pretty small, so I can’t always read the numbers.

around 13 min, Salcedo blasted one just over the goal post.

15 free kick Central, Villar handled it just fine

18 free kick Newells, mid field, nothing much

I think more and more, and not just for this game, that as Nico Cabrera goes, so goes Newell’s

20 Centrall attacking, no big problem

22 not playing attack too well, too many long passes

27 free kick NOB - Spolli to the box, cleared by Central

29 NOB corner kick Nico to Salcedo headed to keeper, dang.

Crap, the keeper just came out and jumped for a ball and landed on Salcedo’s head. They are out treating him. I guess if he can’t go, Ferreyra will come in.

33 Salcedo is still in, his head is bandaged like a mummy

36 yellow for Zelaya(Central) on a tackle on Quiroga

42 GOAAAAAAAALLLLLL de Salcedo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice shot almost at the back line and falling away from the goal. Bad defense on the part of Central.

46 Great save by Quiroga, Villar was out of the box and off his feet after saving a shot and Quiroga managed to clear the ball before it could find the net.

Halftime. Great start. Lets add a few more.

Man of the First Half had to be Santiago Salcedo. All three shots on goal were his, and they were all quality. The first one probably was brushed over the cross bar by the keeper’s hand and the second was well headed, just basically right at the keeper Alvarez’s feet.

Scotti is doing a good job in midfield shutting down Kily Gonzalez, which would have been one of my keys if I had bothered to do a game preview.

Newell’s is a few minutes late returning for the second half.

Costa is in for Valentini at midfield for Central, no changes for NOB

51 Corner for Central, Emiliano Papa casued a bit of havoc

55 Free kick Central, handled by Villar

Central is very motivated righ now.

57 DaSilva blows a good chance with a bad shot/cross

57 Corner for Central, they are pressing hard.

57 NOB cleared, Central back with another corner.

58 Corner cleard, NOB on attack

58 nothing, Alvarez grabbed the ball.

59 Salcedo fires just a bit outside on a pass from Da Silva.

60 Zapata (forward) enters for Bernadello (midfield) for NOB

Not sure about that move, unless Caruso is set to go hunting for the second goal.

Salcedo is out, cant tell who subbed in.

Ferreyra is on for Salcedo.

65 NOB free kick straight to Alvarez, rats!

66 Matsera in for Imperiale for Central

Central is attacking hard, they’ve had the best stuff this half.

69 Vangioni (NOB) shot misses goal.

70 free kick for Central, not a penalty but pretty darn close. Villar saved the ball.

Not game related, but Zapata has some long, stringy hair.

74 Great run by Cabrera, beat his man in the box and one on one with the keeper sent it about 18 inches wide. CRAP!

75 Save by Villar

75 Corner NOB
Cleared, and then Vangioni took a wild shot.

77 Scotti with the foul, free kick for Central from close in.

79 NOB couldn’t figure out how to clear, so Villar came out and grabbed it. Best do it yourself, he thought.

79 Otro free kick by Central

La lepra are just defending and counter attacking.

81 free kick NOB, still batting it around, Ferreyra beat his man on a good pass by Vangioni, but weak as crap shot.

83 Pablo Perez (M) entering for Da Silva (F) for Newell’s

85 Zapata with a shot

Caruso subbed for defense, but NOB is starting to press

86 Corner for Central, repelled, Perez took the ball away

87 Double yellow, Vangioni (N) and Costa (C), dumb play,

Less than three minutes in normal time

88 Goal kick Villar

Aguante Newells, a few short minutes more

Three minutes of additional time

Newell’s on the attack

ONe minute, hang on

One last Central threat, no. Goal kick for Villar

Game Over. Central 0 - Newell’s 1. Hot freakin’ dang. That was quite the game.

Just hope there is no violence like after last year’s game. Caruso and the boys are celebrating like crazy in front of the Newell’s fans. Of course the majority of the fans are for Central and they aren’t to happy.

I’ll try and get the goal up soon.
