He was forced out

By: Jeremy | August 1st, 2008

In a press conference today that took place in the Holiday Inn - Rosario, Caruso revealed that the rat bastard Lopez asked him to step down. That sorry piece of bat guano. Like him or not, Caruso saved Newell’s tail last season. Now we get an ex-player in Gamboa with limited managerial experience to take over a team a week from the beginning of the season. A team in flux at that. Elecciones ya!

honestly Lopez is a misserable bastard hes not a president hes a dictator, ruler, pharoah. In rosario his street nickname is Osama “bin” Lopez. Neways yes Gamboa is a new manager but he has played 144 games for la lepra. He knows what hes getting himself into and i think this is what newells needs a coach who has had La Lepra Jersey on and knows what it means to defend these colors. not a bad choice
plus hes bringing Ricardo Lunari another of Newells historical players as well as Alfredo “el Negro” Obberti.

I’ve only been a fan of Newell’s this decade, so I don’t know a club without Lopez as president, but I can see the corruption he brings. Problem is, even with free elections, he has the support of the barra leaders. The lower divisions are not producing much talent these days. Going back 10 and 20 years and comparing it to today, the percentage of home grown players on the squad was higher, sometimes much higher. I lay that directly at Lopez’ feet.

I’m excited about Gamboa, and he was part of the Boca Juniors organization coaching there ‘inferiores’ so hopefully he was indoctrinated into their winning ways. But his lack of real coaching experience in primera and ascenso scares me a little.

with Gamboa it doesnt really matter its the message that he can transmit to the players…plus him and Lunari and Obberti are legendary status.they can transmit what it means to put on that jersey. This is a good move….i do agree w u about the inferiores commeny u had…newells really needs to pick that up… I would much rather have Lopez with us then against us…cuz for some reason this guy moves money masses and power in the city.
