Kidnapping in el Coloso?

By: Jeremy | October 6th, 2008

Something I just picked up on over at ESPN Deportes. Seems that the barra is looking to consolidate president Eduardo Lopez’ power in the (hopefully) upcoming elections in December. According to a member of Newell’s opposition (who asked to remain anonymous) “el Pimpi (Roberto Caminos - head of the barra, el Gordo Lalo (Marcelo Latorre) and el Gordo Apio (the Gordos are two of Pimpi’s henchmen, entered the stands with another 20 members of the barra and took to young men around 20 years old to a gym on side of the stadium and beat them.” If you habla espanol, you can read it here.

This isn’t the first time the barra has targeted members of the opposition in Newell’s. I remember once last season and the article pointed out several more.

And threats are what caused the court appointed over seer of the elections to resign. Something tells me we are still a far piece from free and fair elections.
