Losing Ground

By: Jeremy | March 9th, 2009

Well, after Friday’s loss to Lanus, I think it is safe to say we are on another streak. We entered the game on an unbeaten streak dating back to last year, and we finished the game on a streak of suck dating back three games.

A draw AT HOME to Gimnasia (J) followed by a draw AT HOME to Colon (who NOB haven’t beaten at home in 437 games, or something mind blowing like that) followed by the loss to Lanus.

I have a solution, just maybe. Bench Salcedo and get Armani back in the lineup.

I know there is some talk (and maybe just a tad bit rightfully) about a Lanus goal being offside. But I also heard that some players needed to improve their performance, so since I didn’t see the game I’ll defer the criticisms to Rolando Schiavi

Just for kicks, here’s the highlight reel.

I’ll take Schiavi’s word, along with what I saw of the Lanus match. It wasn’t Newell’s at their best (that would have been beating Boca at La Bombonera,) but it was still, other than the final score, an pretty evenly played game.

Biggest problem with Salcedo, from what I’ve seen, is he’s trying to do too much by himself. Yes, he’s out their playing his heart out, but to little effect.
