Maybe Pigs Do Fly
By: Jeremy | December 30th, 2008Despite saying that there would be no reinforcements arriving at Parque Indpendencia during the break, Guillermo Lorente has apparently given the green light to a free transfer for Lucas Bernardi.
Currently playing with AS Monaco in France, Bernardi has been suffered through a pair of injury plagued seasons and is now fit again and looking for first team action. A product of Newell’s Old Boys, he has stated that he wants to return to Rosario and end his career there.
While still under contract for six more months, Bernardi has said that if he chooses to leave now, it would be ok with the Monaco brass. He also has said that he understands the economic situation at Newell’s right now and wants to help out.
At 31, his best years are behind him, but he would provide loads of experience in the midfield for La Lepra. While I have seen this rumor for a while now, it does seems to be gaining an air of plausibility now, especially with the player himself speaking out about his desires.
He is currently in Argentina, but is due back in France on Jan 2. New coach Roberto Sensini has given his approval to the signing so there seems to be good will all around. It remains to be seen if it will happen, but given the fact that no one else is coming in and the midfield could use a little shoring up, it would be a good thing to grab him if he is willing to come.

I saw him play in Newell’s he’s a great player for a strong midfielder to get the ball back. I knew he want to come back, I wish he be able to come back

It’s looking more and more likely. I think he would be a great addition. Plus we are going to have to trim some fat from the roster, and there are quite a few under productive mid-fielders. So we could get rid of a lot of salary, maybe pick up some transfer cash and have a quality mid with plenty of international experience.

Bernardi is a good add. no doubt. the fat that we need to trim from the roster in my opinion is the fallowing: Fereyra, Monsalvo, Donnet, Da Silve, Scotti, Quiroga, Pinto and Escalada. That would bring in plentyyyyy of cash. but we have to see how many on these players would acutally leave cash in the club. Vamos LEPRA

Yeah we need cash, but I Want to keep Sperduti, Leandro Torres, Formica, Brenardello, and Spolli if it’s posible.
Those who you named seba I agree we could sell, I like Quiroga but maybe he goes to Argentinos. Go Newell’s.Posted from

Jeremey in response to your comment on a few blogs past i just read yes i did play in inferiores at newells Sexta y Quinta division.
Today some of newells representatives have gone to buenos aires to talk with some head honchos at Independiente (in regards of the debt to machin’s contract) and Chacarita (in regards to the debt of insuralde). It looks like with a little wheeling dealing and selling we could keep both of them. a few other economic situations that we have to deal with is Ferreyra (who could leave and i could care less) the paragauyens cristaldo and fretes escalada and monsalvo. these players listed above may leave do to the lack of payment to the club oh and to top it all off where going to chile for pre-season! (so much for no money)Posted from

So were you pre or post Lope$ coming to the club. I keep hearing that the Barra ran the inferiores and I am curious as to what someone who actually played thinks about it.
I think the Chile tour will probably make some money if they can arrange the game against La Serena.
