Newell’s 2 – 1 Huracan, and other stuff
By: Jeremy | January 24th, 2009Newell’s wins their third friendly, this time by actually scoring their own goals. Both goals came courtesy of Leandro Armani, who is looking strong this preseason. It was another 40 minute or so game, but the next two in Chile, starting tomorrow, are slated to be full time.
In other news, it looks like Santiago Salcedo, author of the ‘mummy’ goal to beat Rosario Central two seasons ago, is headed back to el Parque from River Plate as part of the Fabianni transfer. Still to be decided is how much cash will accompany Salcedo. River seems to want to outright return their half of Salcedo’s pass (Newell’s owns the other half) and send another player or two on loan. Lorente is standing firm for cash, since Lope$ stole all of la Lepra’s dinero.
What that means for Armani and Steinert is not too clear, but SaSa will definitely be starting. I’d love to see all three, but that is not a formation that Sensini seems comfortable using. I hope that Sensini will blood them this year, and send Salcedo somewhere else later on to make room for them.
Also waiting in the wings is Federico Falcone. He broke a toe, so he wont be heading to Chile, and he is still young, but the guy has a lot of talent. Look for him to push for playing time over the next couple of seasons.
Still no word on German Re to Independiente. They want to trade the Machin debt straight up for Re and another player. Now that Salcedo is heading back, Sensini won’t be needing a striker like before, so we’re back to cash and forgiving the debt in return for Re. Personally, I hope he goes to Europe. One, he’ll make more money and get to play on a bigger stage, and two, I love the guy. I don’t want to have to play against him every season. Send him to Europe, let him make his pile, and get him back for a season so he can retire rojinegro, like Bernardi. Now that Lope$ is gone, I am hoping more players do that (I’m looking at you, Heinze).
River also wants Nico Spolli, and Lorente is open to it since Insuarralde has taken his place in the lineup. First they want to finish the Fabbiani debacle and then they will deal with that.
I didn’t read about it, but I saw a few headlines mentioning clubs with an interest in Bernardello. Ok, back to moving.

Good for Armani he has to show his virtues to Sensini. About Fabiani I think because River want him so much we have to trade him for Rosales instead of salcedo, Rosales was a former Newell’s player, he is a very good right side delantero.
Let’s see what happened in Chile.
Go la lepra!!!

Rosales would be a nice option, but I don’t think his name is on the table. Too bad. I think maybe they could do it if they were just looking for a straight up trade, but since this is only a six-month deal and Newell’s wants cash also, it’s not going to happen.

Look Jeremey, just because the club doesn’t return your phone calls doesnt mean you can just invade their headquarters and BBQ area with guns and clubs and stuff.
