By: Jeremy | March 20th, 2008Villar will not feature against Lanus, as he is off with his Paraguyan teammates for a friendly against South Africa, so that means la lepra will be giving Marcos Gutierrez his first start this year. Justo will return in time for the following game with Tigre.
This week’s fixture against Lanus has been moved from Sunday to Monday night – for ’security’ reasons. I am not sure what they are, but since a Velez fan was killed last week I don’t think the police are taking any chances this week. Which is why Villar will be missing the game. He is scheduled to fly out Sunday night, after the game. Now that is it moved, he will be missing the game. Couple that with Shciavi’s suspension and NOB is missing two big pieces of the team. Caruso is not very happy about that. He sort of hinted (OK he came out and said it) that the Argentine FA is favoring Lanus, since they played tonight (and drew 1-1, I believe) in the Libertadores.
Salcedo is still day to day with his ankle sprain. He did practice, but felt some pain. He’ll check it out again tomorrow. Having the extra day can’t hurt.
Ignacio Fideloff is emerging as the man to take the suspended Schiavi’s place in the back line. Still no definite word from Caruso (as is his wont) on that just yet, but don’t count Aguilar out yet either.
