Salcedo sold to River, finally

By: Jeremy | August 1st, 2008

Lopez held out and got $6 million or so for Salcedo. River bought 80% of his pass, and of course his services. $3 million to be paid upfront and the rest on a 36 month payment plan. While I’m glad this saga is finally over, I find it hard to believe that Los Millonarios need a payment plan. They are supposed to be the richest club in Argentina, but I guess it’s the same as a Newell’s - a bad president mismanaging the club.

I’d also hoped to see a swap for one or two of River’s youngsters and maybe a little less money, but this works, too. Now we can pay the team and finish up with the transfers.

Actually, Salcedo was bought by two businessmen, who will loan him to River for 18 months ($1,000,000 fee).

I think they are the same two guys who sent Perrata to Newell’s and are trying to, if they haven’t already, to purchase Hernan Bernardello and loan him back to the club for this season.
