Salcedo sold?
By: Jeremy | July 31st, 2008After practice this morning, captain Rolando Schiavi left the training grounds and made a bee-line for the offices of president Eduardo Lopez. Today was d-day, or payday if you will. It seems as though our dear little president has been a bit remiss when it comes to paying salaries of the bigger players for roughly FIVE MONTHS. He promised Schiavi last week that this would be the week to get caught up.
The met for an hour and apparently Flaco was in a pretty good mood when he left. Since Lopez told Schiavi that he needed to sell Salcedo to afford to pay the players everything, I’m guessing that means an agreement has been reached, and probably not with River Plate. There is still a two million dollar difference between La Lepra and Los Millonarios, but it appears that a group of investors is stepping in to buy his pass and then loan him to River.
Which brings up another point. NEVER let your competition know how badly you need to sell. The vultures start circling and the price goes down. Lopez, surprise, has not handled this transfer market very well at all. Come on December.
