Sensini Finally Says Yes

By: Jeremy | December 22nd, 2008

Ok, all the reports are now saying that football manager Dezotti managed to convince Sensini to accept the position. WHY? I know he was a great player. He only ever played for Newell’s (he was part of the golden generation), and then spent 15 years playing in Italy.

But his managerial career consists of two less than stellar (or even average) stops. He was a disaster at Udinese in Italy and resigned ahead of a firing squad. His season with Estudiantes resulted in a 16th place finish and a sacking.

With all the turmoil and uncertainty going on right now, I am not sure he is the best choice at this juncture. Results on the pitch will make everything better. A fifth place finish and only four losses needs to be improved upon. El Ogro seems to be convinced to move on due to the salary issue. We’ll have to sell one of the four back line guys. Other than that, the team will be the same.

Let’s not make a decision with blinders on. I know that Lope$ and his cronies have all but ruined the club, so that doesn’t make it so attractive right now. So an ex-Newell’s is the way to go, but I would like to see someone with a little bit more of a track record. Let’s hope Senini can rally the troops and put on a strong title challenge, because we could use the cash that the Libertadores or even the Sudamericana could bring to the coffers.

I trust Sensini, he knows Newell’s, he knows what kind of play we like. It is true we are in a transition but he got a lot of experience in domesic football, international and la seleccion. He learned from Griffa and Marcelo Bielsa himself. This going to take time but we’ll see the change at the end, the first and most important step we did. Nobody can’t stop us now!!!!!
    GO LA LEPRA!!!!

Sensini is a safe bet.At Estudiantes he had to operate against JS Veron who is basically the coach at that team. they never got along. Right now newells wont have any money. with the potential sale of schavi wont bring in anything, we would have to sell players that are property of newells to see some cash (ie. Bernardello, Spolli, Re, Vangioni).
either way newells will resurge. lopez is gone and that will attract other people he had kept out. most importantly lets keep our eyes on the relegation table. we put ourselfs in that position for playing the libertadores and later the sudamericana.

My son send me a picture of Maxi Rodriguez visiting el coloso, he gave his support to free Newell’s, also anothers ex-players or hinchas like Ever Banegas who grew up at the inferiores but becouse Lopez he went to boca, he’s a big leper’s fan.

Seba, didn’t you say you played in the inferiores?

Jose, it’s still kind of hard to believe he is gone. Once my kids are a little older, we are going to take a trip to Argentina. It’ll be great to actually see a live game in el Coloso.
