Sperdutti stays with Newell’s
By: Jeremy | August 14th, 2008Mauricio Sperdutti was all set to head on a loan deal to Atletico de Tucuman, newly promoted to the B. But Gamboa talked him into staying and fighting for a place on the first team. I think Sperdutti would have been better off playing first team with Atletico for a season. He hasn’t seen a ton of time with Newell’s, and in case he didn’t notice newell’s signed 5 midfielders and are hot and heavy after Barrientos, although if that doesn’t happen today, it won’t happen. Add to that the midfield’s main starters returning from the Clausura. That is going to be a very crowded midfield, especially when you consider Machin is certain for one of the spots, that leaves like a dozen other midfielders fighting for three spots, and I am pretty sure Bernardello will be a starter along with one of the Paraguayan duo, probably Fretes for his dead ball skills.
Maybe he’ll prove me wrong and have a monster season, but I don’t think so.
