Thanks for the memories, Ricky
By: Jeremy | August 1st, 2008What the crap? Apparently, Hernan Bernardello was sold to a group of investors (don’t get me started on that garbage, that’s a whole ‘nother post) who intend to put him with another club. That was the last straw for Caruso, who wasn’t even informed of the sale until Bernardello was pulled out of practice and told that his rights were now owned by a group of investors. Caruso was under the impression that there would only be one sale.
Relations between Caruso and that $#*&@^#*(**##(@&*$^K^$&@* Eduardo Lopez were already strained due to the crazy transfer situation that Newell’s found itself in. Not one of Caruso’s ten requested transfers arrived in Rosario.
So he ups and drives down to the office of the %#^@%$&*(&@%^%$*#)@*(#%$*@ Lopez and quits. I don’t know what he told Lopez, but I hope it involved telling him while his (Lopez) feet dangled a few inches above the floor since Caruso was lifting Lopez up by the throat to make sure he had his full attention. Or something like that.
Who comes next, I don’t know. Diego Maradona suggests ex-Old Boy Fernando Gamboa. (He also didn’t rule himself out as the coach of Newell’s in the future.) As a player Gamboa won two titles with Newell’s and one with River Plate as well as the Copa America with Argentina.
Seven days to go until the start of the season and this had to happen. If that *(@)!(#*&#$^@*#^&@%&*!@(##^# Lopez manages to avoid elections or buy his victory this December I am going to find some way to sue.
