That Wasn’t Pleasant
By: Jeremy | March 22nd, 2009Out-played, out-coached, out-hustled. Just a good old-fashioned beat down. That was what Newell’s received at the hands of el Rojo on Friday night. Almost nothing worked for NOB, although the first half ended scoreless.
Instead of more mind-numbing drivel about how poorly the team played, or even video lowlights, I thought I would just post this link to an opinion piece about what this loss means in the grand scheme of things. As usual, it’s in Spanish, so if you don’t habla don’t bother.
Now, I’m not totally above starting a rumor, but this is something I’ve been thinking about and have seen on a few other places. Could the brothers Camino and some of the Lope$ guard be intimidating players to perform poorly in hopes of regaining control of the club. Several players seemed to not have their heads in the game (I’m looking at you Spolli).
A lot of people were making illicit profit, and a lot of it, off the back of La Lepra, so it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. I saw where president Guillermo Lorente denies any threats or intimidation on the part of members of the ex-administration, but that’s what I would expect him to say. It’s what he has to say.
He also said for the first time that I could find that charges, criminal and civil, will be filed against the ex-dictator of Newell’s and his regime. Again, something that he has to say, but I want to believe it.
So for now, after only seven weeks, I won’t make any over-reaching statements about the state or future of the team, but I will do a mid-season evaluation in a couple of weeks.

I think Sensini has to change the way that the team is playing because people not gonna be patient and I hope he knows that. I didn’t see nothing extrange with the last game, I think Independiente got luky because all they try works and we played really bad, and this is the second time that they have santoro living the team the same day that play with us, do you remember a game in caruso era, we lost that game 3 to 0, similar way.
We got to come back strong and focus. GO LA LEPRA!!!Posted from

Let’s face it, during the first two wins EVERYONE played well. Can’t expect them to keep that up for 19 games straight.
Biggest thing right now is that I think we missing German Re at the back more than anything else.
