The Man Who Would Be King, Part II

By: Jeremy | November 29th, 2008

Guillermo Lorente is heading the list of candidates to take over the direction of Newell’s Old Boys in the December 14th election. Who is Guillermo Lorente, you might ask? I know I did. Well, to the best of my ability, not ever having met him and knowing nothing about him, here is a brief bio.

Lorente is the one on the left.

He is a lawyer and long suffering Newell’s fan. In 1994, he was the man running for president against Lope$ and then president Walter Cattaneo. He came second, losing by 200 votes or so. Oh for a victory back then.

He worked as a lawyer for la Federación de Cooperadoras Escolares. They apparently were involved in a law suit with Fondo de Asistencia Educativo - a company that provides infrastructure improvements to public schools in Sante Fe (the state where Rosario is located).

I’m really not sure what he is doing now. If anyone can shed some light on that I would appreciate it. Until a few months ago I had no idea who he was.

And just for fun, I thought I would post Lope$ running away like the rat he is.

I know him like you. Oposition didn’t really do a great job, I Don’t undesrtand why Rafael Bielsa refused to be candidate, he is stronger figure than Lorente, his last name it is a holly word, I don’t know maybe he was worry about his political image.

I hope will defeat all dirty tricks that Lopez have waitning. Anyway I think this time averybody patience is finished

    Go Newell’s carajo!!!

Yeah, I think Bielsa is definitely the stronger candidate, but since he was Binner’s opponent for governor, maybe he felt there might be some bad blood left. Who knows? Every morning I check the news to see if anything has happened with the election. A couple of the judges that used to protect Lopez aren’t around anymore so maybe his time is finally done.

I hope so, but I have to see to believe it. Get Lopez out going to make me so happy, like a championship and maybe it is more important.

Great victory today, velez it’s always hard to beat, I’m concerned about injuries, Schiavi and Re are so important to the team.
