Video of el Banderazo
By: Jeremy | November 19th, 2009Just imagine what game day will be like. This is just fans coming out to support the team in the traditional Banderazo that happens a few days before every clásico. Only this time, more than 25,000 fans showed up.
That beat the old record by about 7,000. There were so many that they had to open up the upper deck to accommodate them all. I’m not sure who all was there on the field with the players, but there is always a dozen or so (or more) ex-players present who have scored on la SINA in the past.
The new guys on the team were a bit amazed, taking pictures and filming. The old guys just jumped right in and sang along.

I’m Argentinian & I’m a Newell’s Old Boys’ fan since I was born. I’m soooo glad because I found this website! Thanks for all the news you publish and make Newell’s a better known football club!

I took in my first soccer game…ever…while visiting Buenos Aires last month. Newell’s Old Boys were in town to play Chacarita. Honestly, it was the most exciting event that I’ve ever attended. Why? It’s the fans! The drums started right at the beginning of the game and never quit. Neither did the singing, the cheering, the dancing, the motion. Are all Argentinian futbol fans this wild or was I just lucky enough to see the country’s greatest fans? In any case I loved it and could easily call myself an NOB fan, following them now from at home in Canada.
